Péter Boronkay of Hungary defended his Paratriathlon World Champion title from last year’s Australian Gold Coast Grand Final. Boronkay won by a 24-second lead at the Dextro Energy Triathlon Grand Final Budapest over second-place finisher Oliver Dreiert of Austria.

One of the six categories of the Paratriathlon World Championship promised serious medal hopes for Hungary, as defending champion Péter Boronkay raced as one of the gold medal contenders.

„The Budapest race will be the greatest race of my athletic career, as I will be attempting to defend my title in front of the local fans.” said Boronkay before the race, and competed accordingly.

Brazilian Angelo Borimmal finished the swim with a 54 second lead, and had a minute and 30 second lead during the bike event, and Oliver Dreier came close to him during the finish, Boronkay was able to maintain a 24 second lead. Andreas Kobler finished third, while the other Hungarian in the category finished 11th.
